Solutions · CPA firms

Your licence should be on the judgment, not the data entry.

A CPA firm’s constraint is not demand - it is how many hours credentialed people spend producing books instead of advising. Bursar removes the production and leaves the signature.

What changes, and what deliberately does not.

The letterhead stays yours

Reports carry your firm’s brand. Document requests go out in your firm’s name. Bursar is never named to your client.

The signature stays yours

No file ships without a credentialed reviewer signing off. That is a hard gate in the system, not a policy someone has to remember.

The relationship stays yours

Nothing migrates and nothing is replaced. Bursar connects through the accountant access you already hold on the client’s file.

The obligations stay handled

The professional and statutory duties that come with using a service provider are modelled in the product, not left to the engagement letter.

Professional obligations

The rules that apply when a firm uses a provider.

Two of them bind you rather than us, and a product that ignores that difference makes the firm’s problem invisible until it matters.

  • AICPA ET 1.150.040 requires you to tell the client you may use a third-party service provider before disclosing their confidential information - and if the client objects, the firm must stop using the provider for that client. Bursar treats an objection as dispositive and blocks disclosure for that client outright.
  • ET 1.700.040 is a firm-level obligation. Bursar records the agreement that discharges it and reports what that agreement does not cover, rather than showing a single green tick.
  • IRC §7216 applies to us. Where the law requires a signed taxpayer consent before disclosure, Bursar will not open a close for that client until the consent exists - see Security.

Who each rule binds

IRC §7216Bursar - criminal penalties
AICPA ET 1.150.040Your firm - client may object
AICPA ET 1.700.040Your firm - a posture, recorded

A compliance panel is one green tick away from lying, so Bursar reports what an agreement does not cover as well as what it does.
